Donald L. Jenks

Donald L. Jenks, 80, went home to be with the Lord on Dec. 4, 2010.

At Don’s request, family, friends, and loved ones gathered at Mountain Life Church in McCall on Dec. 14, 2010, to celebrate his life.

He was born June 16, 1930, in Idaho Falls, the only child of Ada and Rudger Jenks. Don Moved to Southern California with his parents while in elementary school.

Don played all the sports and raced cars through his teenage years. He loved to talk about his football memories at Washington High School in Los Angeles, especially winning the city championship.

He became a Los Angeles city firefighter while attending college. Working on “mountain patrol” as a firefighter was his most enjoyable duty.

He also worked as a longshoreman like his father, Rudger during this time. In 1973, he married Patricia Jenks.

After retiring from the Los Angeles City Fire Department, Don opened a number of businesses, including an auto parts store, gas station, and cabinet shop in Big Bear Lake, Calif.

He also worked as an electrician and even helped develop some of the ski runs at the ski resorts in Big Bear Lake, using his bulldozer.

Don and Pattie moved to Donnelly in 1999. They built a beautiful home and loved to share it with family and friends. Because of health concerns, he and Pattie moved to Boise in 2006.

Don is survived by six sons, two daughters, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was the best Dad ever! His children are truly blessed.
