Harold W. Ferguson

We lost a memorable man, father, son, brother and grandfather, Harold W. Ferguson, also known as “Hank” and “Fergie,” 85, of McCall, on Oct. 9, 2011.

Graveside services will be held Friday, Nov. 5, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the McCall Cemetery.

Military Rites will be presented by the McCall American Legion Post 119. Services are under the direction of the Heikkila Funeral Chapel.

Harold was born on July 24, 1926 to Ada and Ira Ferguson in Whittier, Calif. He did all of his schooling in Whittier.

He graduated from Whittier High School in 1944, then right into the Navy. He served from 1944-46 stationed in the Philippines.

When he got out of the Navy he came home to Whittier where he then attended Fullerton JC. He graduated from Fullerton with an associate degree in art.

He was finished with his schooling when he reconnected with his future wife, LoisJeanne Lusk, with whom he went to high school. They were married in Whittier, Calif.,on April 9, 1950.

They resided in Whittier raising their three children, Rodd, Shea and Russ. They lived there for 20 years where Harold worked for South California Edison. They later moved to Mammoth Lakes, Calif., where they lived from 1976-2000.

Harold and LoisJeanne were property managers and Harold had his own snow removal business. He loved his loader! He would talk for hours, if you let him, about Big Equipment.

He collected dye cast Cat excavators and tractors. He was also quite the outdoorsman and avid hunter in his younger days.

After leaving Mammoth in 2000 they moved to McCall to live the retired life and continue their journey.

Hank, as he liked to be called, was a very knowledgeable man and had so many stories to tell, with such a great memory about so many things.

We were always amazed at how he could fix anything. Harold loved the mountains and his loving family, along with his animals.

Harold is survived by his daughter, Shea Grove (Tim) of McCall; grandson, Cody Grove of McCall; granddaughter, Ashley Olson (Wade) of Cascade; great-grandchildren, Cole and Lilah; grandson, Gerit Grove of Boise; a son, Rodd Ferguson (Kathy) of Whittier, Calif.; a granddaughter, Ammie McCaffer (Frank) of Whittier; great-grandchildren, Cade, Chandler, Bella and Justin Ferguson of Mammoth Lakes; Geoff Ferguson of Whittier; son, Russ Ferguson of Mammoth Lakes; and granddaughter, Lily. Harold is preceded in death by his loving wife, our mother LoisJeanne, who passed away this last January. Dad, you will be truly missed; we will see you up in Heaven.
