Warren Edward Mount

After 91 years on this earth, Warren Edward Mount passed on March 14, 2012, while resting at the Idaho State Veterans Home.

A Masonic funeral service for family and friends celebrating his life was held March 19, 2012, at the ICONIC Lodge in Cascade.

Graveside services supported by the American Legion followed at Margaret Cemetery, Cascade, with a reception provided by the Order of Eastern Star of Idaho, Valley Chapter.

He was born in Star to Warren E. Mount and Cora E. Tegarden Mount on March 11, 1921. He graduated from Cascade High School in 1941.

Never far from the mountains he loved and the fishing holes he treasured, Warren’s first job was assisting his father peeling and splitting posts in Scott Valley. By the age of 10 he worked as a bull cook in a Long Valley logging camp. He later worked the mines at Deadwood and Cinnabar before working as a powder monkey on the Cascade Dam.

Shortly thereafter he was inducted into the Army, trained as a surgical technician and proudly served most of World War II on Kwajalein, Marshall Islands treating wounded and accompanying evacuations to Hawaii.

After six years of service he was discharged and attended Oregon Technical Institute. Following graduation he returned to Idaho a master mechanic and highly skilled welder.

He worked for McGregor Triangle for 15 years and Boise Cascade Corporation for 20 more before retiring to enjoy family and fishing. Known for his character, integrity, and willingness to follow or lead when necessary, Warren was elected as grand marshal for the 1997 Thunder Mountain Days in Cascade.

He was an active Mason for 49 years and served eight times as Past Master of ICONIC Lodge No. 82 as well as Past Patron for the Order of Eastern Star of Idaho, Valley Chapter No. 74.

He held several positions including Post Commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10324 and was a member of The American Legion Post No. 60.

Warren was predeceased by his wife, his home-town sweetheart and partner of 64 years, Naomi Ilene Egger Mount (1927-2008).

Warren is survived by his three children, Cleo I. Boren, Boise; Julian M. Mount, Potlatch; and Steven W. Mount, Donnelly, as well as 12 grandchildren, and 32 great-grandchildren.
