Beth Elaine Smock

Beth Elaine Smock of Boise passed away at home peacefully April 18, 2011.

The family will greet friends for a viewing at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel on Thursday, April 21 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. A reception will follow.

Beth was born Dec. 8, 1943 to Floyd and Grace Breach in Nampa. After high school she moved to Boise where she met Ralph “Buster” Smock.

In 1965 they married and raised two boys, Darren and Steve, in their North End home.

Beth worked for 25-plus years in the Boise School District as a librarian. She loved working with the children and sharing her love of books and reading.

Beth also was an avid golfer and spent her summers golfing with her husband and many friends in McCall.

In winters she kept herself busy with cross-stitching, snowmobiling, reading and traveling south to warmer climates and a few rounds of golf.

Beth’s pride and joy were her two granddaughters. She loved having them over to make homemade french fries and cookies.

Beth is survived by her husband, Ralph; sons Darren (Annie) Smock and Steven (Julia) Smock both of Boise; grandchildren Avery and Margaret; sisters Carolyn Shuey, JoAn Breach; one brother William “Bill” Breach, all of Caldwell, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Steven and Harold.

In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Boise School District Library fund in honor of her granddaughters.
