Joseph (Joe) Alexander Keto II

Joseph (Joe) Alexander Keto II, 62, entered the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on Jan. 29, 2011.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

He was born on March 23, 1948 in Spokane, Wash., where his father was stationed in the service. He was the son of Joe Keto and Jean Keto Olson.

He grew up attending schools in Boise, graduating from Nampa Christian High. He went to Bob Jones University for one year and entered the U.S. Navy.

He met and married Nancy Walker of McCall and they had three children, Jamie, Amy and Sarah.

Over the next years, he attended and graduated from the state police academy, a top marksman in his class, of which he was very proud. He worked as a police officer in Cascade. He also became a mortician.

Years later he was among the first class to receive his baccalaureate in nursing from BSU. He enjoyed nursing and worked in both McCall and Grangeville.

He was a lifetime scholar and continually educated himself in everything that interested him. He had a special interest in Native American culture and took great pride in constructing an authentic Indian teepee on his property. He loved the mountains and was an avid outdoorsman.

In recent years, he retired to devote his full time to caring for his beloved wife Nancy, who suffers from severe MS. They loved reading the scriptures, listening to soft music and watched numerous BSU football games together.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Nancy, of McCall; his daughter, Amy Hammon of Boise; his mother, Jean Olson and her husband Eric of Boise; his sister, Kathi Hendricks of Boise; and granddaughter, Chloe Hammon of Boise, who was his “ray of sunshine.”

He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Keto; his brother, Kip Keto; his son, Jamie; daughter, Sarah; and nephew, Adam.

“O Love that wilt not let me go, I rest my weary soul in thee; I give thee back the life I owe, that in thine ocean depths its flow may richer, fuller be.”
