Mary Jane Baxter

Mary Jane Baxter, 95, passed away Feb. 9, 2011 in Boise.

She was born June 21, 1915, in Canyon County to Frank and Emma Brown. Mary grew up in and around Caldwell graduating from The College of Idaho in 1937.

She met a handsome, blue-eyed soldier named James B. “Jim” Baxter when he was stationed at Gowen Field in Boise with the Army Air Corps.

They were married on April 22, 1943 and enjoyed nearly 67 years together until Jim passed away in December 2009.

After their two children were in school Mary went to work as a registrar at Hawthorne and Garfield grade schools and transferred to Hillside Junior High when it opened in 1961. She retired from there in 1975.

Jim and Mary spent many happy summers at their cabin in McCall, enjoying the lake, their friends, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She will be missed beyond words by all. She was a true giver of support, companionship, laughter and love.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her five brothers, Malcolm, Gordon, Doug, Mason, and Donald.

She is survived by her daughter Kathy Myers of Boise; son Bruce (YaVonna), granddaughters Mandy Bonilla (Juan), their children, Jacquelyn and Drew of McCall; Niki Baxter (Joey Maxey), their son Myles of Boise, sister-in-law Macy Brown of Salem, Oregon and several nieces and nephews.

We would like to thank the wonderful, caring staff at Plantation Place Assisted Living where she spent the last two years of her life as well as XL Hospice for all of their invaluable assistance.
