April Baalmann-Callan

April Baalmann-Callan, 38, born July 16, 1972, in Wichita Kans., passed away Feb. 26, 2011 at home in McCall.

Services will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at the McCall Golf Course clubhouse.

April, a great wife, excellent mother and an all-around good person, was taken from us after a brief but intense battle with a swiftly spreading infection originating in her gall bladder.

April fell in love with the beauty of the mountains and the town of McCall. She enjoyed, snow and water skiing, Christmas tree hunting, and target shooting.

Every time I brought out a different gun, she had to “feel” how loud it was without hearing protection. “Just one shot won’t hurt my ears.” There was no talking her out of it.

She had a special way to get the most out of any experience. Summers evenings we sat with our feet in the lake looking west. She would often point and comment “Look at all those trees, how many trees do you think are on that mountain?”

There was no end to April’s compassion and generosity, be it a friend in need or gratuity for a service, she always went the extra mile, putting other’s needs above her own.

Her greatest selfless acts was the tireless way she cared for her twin babies. Sometimes with little or no sleep, she constantly cared for their every need, saying with a little smile “twins, how did that happen?”

We planned to be married this summer in Hawaii “barefoot on the beach.” April, my love, you are loved and missed by all the lives you touched.
